Maxi's Burger Buns

Maxi's Burger Buns

- 320g all-purpose flour

- 120ml warm water

- 120ml warm milk (or plant-based milk)

- 28g unsalted butter (room temperature)

- 1 tbsp honey

- 7g active dry yeast

- 5g salt

- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

- Sesame seeds (for topping)

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and softened butter. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 to 1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and divide it into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a bun shape.
  6. Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds over each bun.
  7. Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes or until they turn golden brown. Let them cool on a wire rack.
